Job Summary
Job Summary
The Biomedical Equipment Technician I (BMET I) provides clinical equipment services under the close supervision of TriMedx management and/or experienced technicians. Duties include, but are not limited to, inspections of clinical equipment for completeness, proper operation, mechanical and electrical safety. The individual also performs planned maintenance inspections, calibrations, repairs of general equipment and minor repairs of complex equipment. The BMET I assists other technicians in the troubleshooting and major repair of complex equipment. The individual demonstrates adherence to the core values of the hospital and TriMedx in all professional interactions by showing respect to all people, creating real value, initiating meaningful change, and exhibiting integrity.
Responsibilities
- To support and fulfill the mission of Carondelet. Promotes quality service within a compassionate environment by treating every person with dignity and respect.Supports organizational efforts to provide health care for all
- To provide a safe, functional, supportive and effective environment for all patients, staff members and other individuals utilizing CHN facilities. Identifies location of Hazardous Communication Manual(s) and identifies use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Describes the procedure for handling spills involving hazardous materials and waste. Defines the acronym RACER. Responds with appropriate phone numbers to call to report emergencies. Describes location of Emergency Preparedness Manual and describe primary component. Identifies location of Unit Safety Plan Manual and describes the evacuation plan for the specific environment. Identifies the location of fire pull-stations, hand-held fire extinguishers, and emergency power outlets for the specific environment
- Provide appropriate, quality service and/or care for age-related needs of the population(s) served, according to established performance standards and policies of the unit. Knowledge of growth and development. Ability to gather, assess and interpret age specific and communication skills. Involves family member or significant other in decision making related to plan of care or service provided.
- To provide effective and accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory and local requirements. Document work on work orders and update computer records in a timely manner. Identifies and completes appropriate forms to meet specific requirements. Initiates and maintains equipment historical records. Establishes and maintains supporting technical literature. Such as manufacturer’s literature, references standards, specifications and other documents necessary for supporting the program. Follows corporate and departmental policies and procedures.
- To provide appropriate, timely and comprehensive quality service. Repairs, maintains and calibrates clinical equipment. Performs scheduled periodic maintenance and electrical safety inspection programs. Inspects incoming equipment for compliance with codes, standards, specifications and manufactured claims. Conducts in service classes for equipment users on subjects such as electrical safety, proper use and care of equipment.
- To provide and maintain customer satisfaction. Responds to the needs and expectations of the internal and external customers of the various departments. Provides feedback on equipment status to end-users and department managers.

- Education: Associates Degree in biomedical equipment technology or electronics or equivalent training and experience
- Experience: 0-1 years specific related experience
- Preferred Requirements
- Licensure/Certifications: BMET Certification
