Job Summary

The Market Director, Quality provides strategic leadership and oversight for clinical quality, patient safety, performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and accreditation readiness across multiple hospitals, ambulatory facilities, or healthcare entities within a defined market. This role collaborates with executive leadership, physicians, nursing leaders, and operational teams to improve clinical outcomes, reduce variation in care, enhance patient experience, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities

Develops and implements market-wide quality strategies aligned with organizational goals. Monitors, analyzes, and improves clinical quality performance measures and patient outcomes. Leads initiatives focused on reducing hospital-acquired conditions, readmissions, mortality, and other quality indicators. Promotes evidence-based practices and standardization across facilities. Fosters a culture of safety and high reliability throughout the market. Monitors trends and implements strategies to reduce patient harm and improve safety outcomes. Oversees corrective action plans and regulatory response activities. Monitors quality dashboards and scorecards. Ensures accurate collection, validation, and reporting of quality measures. Collaborates with clinical and operational leaders to improve publicly reported outcomes and value-based purchasing performance. Ensures compliance with Governance reporting requirements Organizational Integration. Collaborates with quality, patient safety, risk management, infection prevention, and clinical operations leaders to address compliance risks. Supports enterprise quality and patient safety objectives through proactive risk mitigation. Partners with physicians, nursing leaders, and clinical teams to improve care delivery. Facilitates physician participation in quality initiatives and performance improvement activities. Supports medical staff quality committees and governance structures. Directs and mentors quality, patient safety, and regulatory staff across the market. Establishes accountability for quality goals and performance metrics. Builds collaborative relationships with executive and operational leaders. Leads Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities. Utilizes data analytics to identify opportunities for improvement and measure intervention effectiveness. Supports Lean, Six Sigma, or other performance improvement methodologies. 

Qualifications

Education:
Required: Registered Nurse with Master of Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or other relevant healthcare field and 5 years of regulatory, accreditation, and performance improvement. Or, bachelor's degree and actively enrolled in a master's degree in clinical health-related field program with completion date within 12 months of hire, and 5 years of relevant regulatory, accreditation, and performance improvement experience.

Experience:

Required: 7 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience with 5 years of experience in hospital quality. 2 years as a hospital Quality Director.

Certification(s):

Required: CPHQ, CPPS, or CPHRM within 12 months of hire.
